Rigging Rope and Safety
Tree climbing ropes and tree rigging ropes are the most important tools a professional arborist uses. Climbing lines and rigging lines for arborists represent the worker's lifeline in the field, so we stock only the highest quality lines from manufacturers such as Samson, Teufelberger, Sterling, and Yale.
We also carry rigging ropes manufactured in Canada and America for Notch Equipment, which we believe represent the best value in the market and we stand behind their ropes 100%.
Why Use Tree Rigging Ropes?
Why use tree rigging ropes? From knot rope to an atlas rigging line, rigging rope is critical to climbing purposes. A high-quality rigging line that is highly abrasion resistant will keep you safe as you work high above the rest of the world. Without a rope with abrasion resistance, you could find yourself in danger.
Tree rigging ropes are a critical part of the life of an arborist. They keep you safe, even in the craziest circumstances in a tree. Let's dive into them a little more to help you understand this vital tool in the arborist field.
Understanding Tree Climbing Ropes
You might think of a rope as being a simple piece of equipment. However, ropes are actually quite complicated. They serve the important job of keeping a person steady when they're in a tree, or out on a limb, so to speak. As such, there are any details that should be understood when choosing the rope to fill your kit.
Color: Believe it or not, color plays a large part in choosing a rope. You want something bright, so that when you're on the job, there's less of a chance of it being cut with the tree limbs it's wrapped around.
Size: Arborist ropes come in different sizes ranging from 10mm to 13mm. Each size presents different advantages and drawbacks. This can include the grip offered by the rope, as well as the weight it can hold in pounds.
Construction: The construction of tree climbing rope is different than a standard rope. These ropes are designed to hold downward force without stretching too much, and they prevent spinning. This is important when you're in the canopy.
Sheath: Different ropes come with different sheathes. These sheathes reduce the wear and tear of the friction caused by rising and lowering while climbing.
Rope Ends: Many ropes come with a single spliced end. These splices create a loop, allowing for different climbing techniques.
